My website URL

Introducing my website

Out of all of the tools that we were exposed, google sites was the most applicable to my class and the most interesting. I would have like to have spent more time going over its features such as: how to make a survey, how to insert discussion threads for students to give feedback on topics discussed in class, etc. It would be nice if we could make this a longer class to go more in depth on these topics vs skimming the surface. Some of us need more time to absorb, practice and implement technology.

Google Sites

This so far has been my favorite tool!

I would like to use this site as a place for students to go to get the instructions for an authentic assessment for the body systems unit I am teaching. They will have the option to either build a wiki page or a slideshow presentation on the organ system of their choice. These will be sent to me and posted on the website. I will start a discussion thread so that students can comment on 2 projects so that everyone can give and receive feedback on their project.

I am really hoping that we will learn to make wiki pages this coming Monday so that I can move forward with this idea.

The website will also include video tutorials as student resources and sample wiki and presentations. The detailed instructions and grading rubric will be posted as well.

Endocrine ppt

Google Slideshow

Being an avid power point user, this application seems pretty limited. Aside from being able to post this on my personal website, I am not sure that I see a value in this product. School loop allows me to post all my powerpoints (I use these daily for lectures in AP Bio) online. Perhaps this tool is targeted towards teachers without such resources?

Using online tools to teach

I am guessing that we will be covering this at some point. Prior to creating class technology activities, I would really like to know how to set up an online interface such as the one we are using in this ITEC class. I love the idea of having one website that students can go for syllabus, activities and homework posting. I also would like to learn how to start discussion thread using this website.

Skeptical about technology in the classroom

I love the convenience of all the tools we have today in technology! How easy it is to communicate, share documents, spreadsheets, pictures, videos, and experiences. In some database housed in some warehouse, resides a server with the intimate details of my life... What protection do we users have - as to how this information might be used by the public eye?
What laws currently exist in place to protect naive tech users, who are captivated by the allure of flashy gadgets and pretty personalization options? If we are going to introduce technology as part of the learning experience in American classrooms, shouldn't we consider first teaching our students about technology ettiquette and ethics?
